Zunyi Medical & Pharmaceutical College (ZMPC) is located at the university town of Xinpu New District, Zunyi City. With a total investment of 2.3 billion yuan, it covers an area of 1,394 mu, and has a building area of 598,600 square meters. There are 12,670 full-time students and 1,105 faculty members(includingthose inthe Fifth People’s Hospital of ZunyiaffiliatedtoZMPC(519 in themain campus). Among them there are 338persons withmaster’s and doctoral degree( 152 in themain campus), 108 professors /physicians-in-charge (17 in themain campus), 288 associate professors / deputy chief physicians(95 in themain campus), with double-qualified teachers（for example, the teacher who is a teacher and a doctor as well）accounting for 88 %. There are 6 departments and 2 teachingsections, 24 majors, of which clinical medicine,stomatology, preventive medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and acupuncture-moxibustion-tuinaare the national control majors. Nursingandmedical imaging technology are the key construction majors supported by the Ministry of Finance. Pharmacy is the key construction major in the form of substituting subsidies with rewards of the CentralGovernmentFinance. Traditional Chinese medicinebelongs totheGuizhou Province’s construction open training project bases, and the Clinical Department is provincialmutually-constructed base ofcollegesand enterprises.

ZMPC is thesole modelhigher vocational collegeof medical science inGuizhou Province, the excellent unit for the evaluation of ideological and political education in Guizhou Province, the provincial scientific and technological personnel training and innovation team, and the outstanding unitinthe provincialyoung teachers’ teaching competition. Thecollegehas 2 provincial excellent teaching teams, 2 provincial distinguished teachers, and 1 provincial master’s studio.Itsstaff havewonprizes in various skillscompetitions across the country, including 2 first prize, 3 second prize, and 4 third prize.

According to the 2017 China Higher Vocational Competition Ability Ranking List, which is jointlyreleasedbytheChina Science Evaluation and Research Center, China Education Quality Assessment Center of Wuhan University and China Science and Education Evaluation Network,itranks 330th among 1,346 higher vocational colleges and universities in China, the 13th among medical colleges and universities nationwide and the 4th in Guizhou’shigher vocational colleges. Thecollegehas an average annual enrollment of 5,000 students. In the past five years, thestudents admitted were all depending on theirfirst choice. In 2017, 918 students(accounting for 26.2 % of the students enrolled),whowere qualified to be admitted to undergraduate universities decided to study in our college. All the students applied for stomatologystudy passed theuniversityentrance examination and their score washigher than requiredforthe second-batch university admission. The quality ofthe admittedstudents ranks first among the higher vocational colleges in GuizhouProvince and the registrationrate of new students comes outfirstamong the higher vocational colleges inGuizhou.Itsgraduates’ employment rate, the pass rate of nursing practice qualification examination and the public nutritionist qualification examination are above 95 % on average.

Thecollege has the following laboratories:a Provincial Experimental Rabbit-breeding Base, a National Chinese Medicinal HerbLaboratory (LevelⅡ) and aMunicipal Medicinal HerbEthnomedicine& New Medicine Research Laboratory. In the past five years,it had aresearch fundof47.13 million yuanpublished 490 high-quality papers and edited 203 books(textbooks); thecollegehas received several awards for scientific and technological progress in Guizhou Province, trained 36,000 grassroots health personnel, provided more than 100 technical services to enterprises, and formulated more than 20 enterprise standards.

ZMPC currently has 2 affiliated hospitals(The First People’s Hospital of Zunyi and The Fifth People’s Hospital of Zunyi), 1 non-affiliated hospital(Zunyi TCM Hospital), 3 teaching hospitals, and more than 180college-hospital orcollege-enterprise cooperation teaching bases.The First People’s Hospital of Zunyi is a first-class general hospital with 2,500 beds.Neonatal Pediatrics is the keyprogram supported bythe NationalHealth Commission in the National Reform Project. TheIntensive Care Unit (ICU) is the National key supporting discipline. There are 600 bedsinthe Fifth People’s Hospital of Zunyi. Thelocalgovernment has invested 1.4 billion yuan to build the hospital into a fist-class general hospital and a rehabilitation-nursing hospital with an area of 60,000 square meters.It has run a training course forhigh-end senior care talentscoorperatedwith Shanghai HexiaoSenior Care Corp. It also has started a class especially for"pharmacymanager"together withGuizhouEnsure Pharmaceutical Company.

ZMPChasjointly conductedundergraduate education with Guizhou Medical University and Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and distance education with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. We have established exchanges and cooperation with SEGiUniversity,Malaysia, Edge Hill University,United Kingdom, HUNGKUANG University,Taiwan, and Dalian Medical University.The collegehas sent many teachers to the United States, Uzbekistan, Tanzania and other countries for researchand furtherstudy.The college accepts with pleasure the help fromShanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Scienceswith success in training ofteachers and scientific research. Thecollege has developed ajoint funding project with the GuizhouScience and Technology Departmentand ZunyiScience and Technology Bureau anditisthe exclusive one in Guizhou.The affiliated hospitals have carried out cooperation with Shanghai1^stPeople’sHospital,Sino-USHealthcare Group and ChongqingTumorHospital. Thecollegehas cooperationwith more than 180 hospitals and enterprises inside and outside the province to carry out medical education andorientedhealthcare personnel training.
