From April 15th to April 16th, the FirstTraditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Techniques and Skills Competition of GuizhouProvince, which was sponsored by the Guizhou Provincial Department of Educationand undertook by Zunyi Medical and Pharmaceutical College (ZMPC), was held inour school. About 100 competitors of 11 colleges that have set TCM-relatedprofessions have participated in the two –day event. The contest has provided alearning and exchanging platform of skills like Acupuncture, Tuina, paintingcollateral channels and attacking acupoints as well as cupping skills for ourprovincial TCM vocational education, fully revealing the specialty constructionand teaching achievements of our provincial TCM vocational education. The eventheld aims to promote the development and reform of our provincial vocationaleducation, establishing and perfecting our province TCM vocational education’s skilledtalents cultivating train of thought, and meeting the needs of large healthindustry talent pool.
Two main items, Acupuncture and Tuina, wereconducted in the competition. Competitors should finish five live skill operationsas painting collateral channels and attacking acupoints, technique of filiformneedle acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping and Tuina therapy. At the same time,the competitors’ whole operation process should fully present contents includinghis or her appearance, ability to communicate with the patient, the preparationbefore operation, the operation procedure (the specification, the proficiencyand the strength), and the follow-up processing, etc.
After a fierce competition, both of our twocontestants won awards, of which Luo Zhongying instructed by associateprofessor Luo Lidan won the first prize in the higher vocational educationgroup, and Cheng Hongyu under the guidance of associate professor ZhangXiaoquan won the second. The event is reported to have set one first prize,three second prizes, and four third prizes in the higher vocational group.
