On April 23, the college successfully held the "Talents Week" Academic Symposium themed "Fragrance of Herbs, Spring Fills the Apricot Grove" and launched the second "Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Culture Month" event. The activities attracted widespread participation from government departments, medical institutions, pharmaceutical enterprises, and faculty and students.
At 9:00 a.m., the event officially commenced in the academic lecture hall on the third floor of the university library. During the opening ceremony, Zhang Biao, Member of the University Party Committee and Vice President, introduced the event’s theme and distinguished guests. Subsequently, Lu Yuanfu, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and President, and Shi Tingchang, Chairman of the Municipal Science and Technology Association, delivered enthusiastic speeches, extending warm congratulations for the event and expressing high hopes for the future development of TCM culture.
Following this, experts and scholars including Liu Lijun, Senior Engineer from China Technology Exchange Co., Ltd.; Lan Jinshuai, Senior Experimentalist from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Fu Jian, Associate Professor from Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; and Wu Shuguang, Senior Experimentalist, engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics such as intellectual property protection, TCM pharmaceutical development, research on the material basis of ethnic medicines in TCM, and the application of laboratory animal science in medicine. Their insights provided a feast of ideas for attendees.
In the afternoon, an exchange meeting between expert representatives and research team representatives took place. Representatives showcased their latest research achievements in patents and TCM formulations, while experts offered detailed critiques and guidance. The lively discussions injected fresh vitality into TCM research and innovation.
Simultaneously, a vibrant TCM Cultural Carnival unfolded on campus. Traditional Chinese cultural student clubs organized a series of immersive activities, including a Chinese traditional costume parade, arrow tossing,cuju(an ancient Chinese football game), lantern riddle guessing, herbal medicine quizzes, and on-site workshops for crafting TCM sachets. These activities allowed participants to experience the unique charm of TCM culture in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere.
The "TCM Culture Month" will continue until late May. A variety of events are scheduled, including a youth scientific workers symposium, project collaboration exchanges, TCM culture popularization lectures,Baduanjin(a traditional fitness exercise) group competitions, a TCM culture exhibition at the university’s cultural museum, herbal medicine sketch exhibitions, medicinal plant-themed manhole cover paintings, herb identification and labeling activities, a "Fragrant Apocathary Grove · Herbal Quest" reading promotion, the "Apricot Grove Cup" extracurricular academic competition, and "New Journeys with Herbs" after-school services. These initiatives aim to promote and pass down TCM culture comprehensively and multidimensionally.
